Leave it to the pros

With over 20 years experience in radon detection and protection, ProTen Services Ltd are the nation’s leading experts in the field

If your GP told you that your life could be saved by having a pacemaker fitted, chances are you would go ahead with the procedure… but would you trust your GP to do it himself? The same principle should apply to radon protection – it is a potentially life-saving, specialist area of construction, where training and sophisticated accuracy are imperative to its success. Can you afford to place this responsibility in the hands of a ground worker or general contractor?

There are three crucial elements of successful new build radon protection: quality of design, quality of materials used and quality of workmanship. If any one of these aspects is less than perfect, the system is likely to fail. ProTen Services’ Protocol for radon protection in new builds gives clients confidence that these three elements will be executed to the highest standards.

Design – an individual design is drawn-up for every building, tailored to the exact layout, ground conditions, type of structure and degree of risk.

Materials – all materials are certified by an independent authority as being specifically impenetrable by radon. The maximum feasible amount of jointing is conducted offsite, and joints are heat-welded to ensure air tightness.

Workmanship – all staff involved, from design to installation, have been trained to the highest standards. On-site, technicians pay meticulous attention to detail and show an acute awareness of the significance of the service they are providing.

Post-construction testing is always conducted to demonstrate successful installation.

Radon remediation in homes and workplaces with high concentrations of the gas requires a similar level of expertise. In the absence of a proper understanding of the science of radon, well-intentioned but uninformed measures can make the problem worse, rather than better.

ProTen Services have the necessary experience and capability to design a mitigation system that will significantly reduce radon concentration and prevent future infiltration. ProTen Services are also the only specialist to offer a unique combined waterproofing and radon mitigation system for use in basements, where both high radon and moisture ingress are common.
