CLS has revealed initial details of its proposals for the redevelopment of its 2.9-acre headquarters site at Vauxhall Cross, next to the Vauxhall train, Underground and bus stations, and close to the new US Embassy. CLS has been a major investor in Vauxhall for 20 years and the proposed mixed-use scheme is for about 1.2m sq ft gross.

Allies and Morrison designed the project which will include a major new public square that is similar in size to Paternoster Square, in central London, more than 200,000 sq ft of offices, a 300-bed hotel, more than 80,000 sq ft of retail with restaurants and bars, more than 400 flats in two towers, a cinema and student housing.

A series of contemporary aerial walkways will be known as “the Linear Walk” and will link the different sites and streets around Vauxhall Cross.

CLS intends to submit a detailed planning application in late 2011 and vacant possession of the site is expected in 2014. It is envisaged that, subject to planning consent, the work will be completed in 2016/2017. The project is expected to have a development cost of about £250m.
