Derwent London was upbeat about the Angel Building, its largest project to date, when it issued its interim management statement for the nine months to the end of September. The company completed the 263,000 sq ft building in EC1 in September and said it was confident the space in the regeneration scheme would prove attractive to tenants.
It is marketing the remaining 137,000 sq ft of office and retail space following the pre-let to Cancer Research UK and says it has received good initial occupier interest. Derwent has also completed the refurbishment of 65 Whitfield Street in Fitzrovia – a 30,000 sq ft five-storey office building that is now more than 60 percent let.
John Burns, chief executive, said the company was on-site at nine refurbishments and continued to progress the design and planning for its pipeline of schemes. Tower Hamlets has agreed to grant planning permission for a 121,500 sq ft mixed-use development at 60 Commercial Road, E1 and planning applications have been submitted at 132-142 Hampstead Road, NW1, 2-14 Pentonville Road, N1 and City Road Estate, EC1. It will also shortly submit a planning application for the 320,000 sq ft redevelopment of 80 Charlotte Street, W1.
