Clothing retailer French Connection is set to close 14 of its UK stores. Shops to close include high profile shopping locations such as the Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex and Bluewater in Kent and represent 20 percent of the French Connection’s stores.

The news follows a poor year for the fashion retailer. It experienced a 32 percent fall in profits over the past year, with the company making an £8.2m loss for the financial year to the end of 2011. French Connection will now seek tenants to take over the remainder of the leases it holds on the 14 stores.
