Hammerson has announced the appointment of Judy Gibbons as a non-executive director with effect from May 1 this year. Gibbons has more than 25 years’ experience in technology businesses focused on software, internet, ecommerce, digital media and consumer technology.

She has held senior positions at Hewlett-Packard, Apple, and Microsoft where she worked from 1994-2005 and was most recently corporate vice-president of global sales and marketing at Microsoft’s internet division, MSN.

Gibbons is currently a non-executive director at Guardian Media Group and a venture partner at Accel Partners, a technology focused venture capital firm. She was also previously a non-executive director at telecommunications firm O2.

John Nelson, Hammerson, chairman, said: “I’m extremely pleased that we have been able to secure someone with Judy’s experience to our board. In particular, her appointment will help us develop further our understanding of the opportunities and challenges that multi-channel retailing presents to a landlord, and follows the strengthening of our operational team in this area.”
