Land Securities expects to finish the redevelopment of the Atlas site in Glasgow city centre in March 2013.The company is in the process of turning the site into a £70m retail and residential scheme.
The project on 185-221 Buchanan Street will regenerate an area on the prime retail pitch, which LandSec says has been blighted by multiple ownership and lack of investment for more than 25 years. LandSec is building the 155,000 sq ft scheme opposite Buchanan Galleries and it is envisaged the development will help boost the northern end of Buchanan Street as a retail destination.
The site was bought out of administration in December 2009 with planning consent for a retail development. Land Securities received approval for an updated planning application from Glasgow City Council earlier this year.
