Land Securities has submitted a new planning application to redevelop 30 Old Bailey and 60 Ludgate Hill, EC4, into 389,000 sq ft of contemporary office and retail accommodation.

The detailed City of London plans, prepared by Fletcher Priest and Sauerbruch Hutton, include a mixed-use development which will help meet demand for Grade A office space.
The development is also designed to enhance leisure and retail facilities, pedestrian links and public spaces.

It will replace two outdated properties from the 1960s, both located close to St Paul’s, with office and retail accommodation and an improved pedestrian route which will open into a new public amenity space.

The plans also include private roof terraces and green roofs which overlook Old Bailey, Ludgate Hill, St Paul’s Cathedral and the River Thames while protecting the views and vistas of the renowned St Paul’s area.

Colette O’Shea, LandSec’s London portfolio development director, said: “The proposed scheme…will dramatically enhance the environment for the thousands of people who work and visit in this part of the City. The plans will bring contemporary office space to the London market where there is a forecast shortage of supply and will deliver new high quality retail and leisure facilities to the City.”
