The Peel Group has submitted its outline planning application to Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council for the Peel International Trade Centre at West Float, Wirral Waters. Peel said the development would bring substantial international investment to an area in need of major regeneration.

The Peel International Trade Centre application comprises four separate multi-level buildings totalling about 2.5m sq ft of floor space. The four buildings are likely to be phased over the next 10 years and it is envisaged that first phase building construction will begin sometime next year. Peel expects planning permission will be granted by autumn 2011.

Lindsey Ashworth, director, described it as “a fantastic and exciting” project. “All local retailers will have access on their doorstep to high quality products manufactured overseas, and local people will have the opportunity to apply for new jobs that will be created.”

Peel would establish stronger business relationships with China and other emerging economies which it believed would be the start of new overseas joint ventures that progressed other projects and kick-started much needed growth in the North West,” she said.
