An urban waterfront space near Glasgow is nearing completion

The efforts of Atkins Landscape and Urban Design team from Glasgow will shortly be realised in the delivery of a significant new urban waterfront space on the doorstep of Atkins offices at 200 Broomielaw, Glasgow. This £14m project continues Glasgow City Councils investment in public realm renewal which has been taking place since 1999 and seeks to reconnect the city centre with its previously undervalued waterfront.

Currently works are focused on civil engineering, however upon completion of the public realm works the outlook for Atkins offices at 200 Broomielaw and the City of Glasgow will be much improved. The completed works will release the potential of the City’s waterfront providing opportunities for people to regain access to enjoy the waterfront environs and also stimulate further regeneration to the south of the River Clyde.

Charlie Francis, Head of Planning Landscape and Heritage for Scotland commented “Atkins is passionate about improving the cities in which we live, Glasgow has long recognised the multi-faceted value of its waterfront and this project amongst others being promoted by the City will greatly assist in reconnecting the City with its waterfront, contributing to the wider regeneration plans for the City”.

The delivery of this major project will clearly demonstrate Atkins public realm capability in the design and delivery of major public realm renewal and further strengthens Atkins position as a major force in the regeneration market in Scotland and the UK.
