St Modwen Properties has been granted outline planning permission for the Bay Science and Innovation Campus for Swansea University, which is situated at a former BP storage site on the outskirts of Swansea.
The regeneration specialist, as owner and developer of the site, will work closely with Swansea University, the Welsh Assembly, BP and the Princes Foundation for the Built Environment to develop detailed plans for the project.
The company will focus specifically on the £200m first phase which comprises 300,000 sq ft of academic accommodation, 2,800 student residential units and associated retail space. Bill Oliver, chief executive, said the granting of outline planning permission was a significant step forward in the development.
